“Tear Staining in Puppies”

When puppies start getting their first set of baby teeth they will develop watery eyes which will cause eye stain.

You would want to Choose bottled water instead of water from the faucet. Water from the faucet has iron and hard harsh minerals. Bottled water is a much healthier choice.

Whole Plain Yogurt 1 Tablespoon 1x a week helps tear staining.

For tear staining you can use probiotics; Nupro which really works and boosts their overall immune system. Amazon or Chewy.com carries it. Also wiping under their eyes daily with a cotton ball wet with Bausch & Lomb Re Nu Contac Solution.

Round tipped baby scissors to cut hair near eyes.
“I don't believe in any products promising wonders. What I found that really works is to cut the hairs at the corners of your Maltese eyes twice a week so that the hair does not irritate the eyes, be careful not to cut too much.”

You can dab a little bit of Corn Starch with your finger to the face just like you would make-up to help keep the face nice and dry.

Another thing you can do is to sprinkle a little bit of powdered buttermilk on their dog food which will helps keep the eyes dry.

For a treat I give my adult Maltese small bite size raw peeled carrots for cleaning their teeth, which is good for their eyes as well and blueberries.

I'm not a fan of giving dogs Antibiotics.
Antibiotics lowers your dogs Immune system the same as it does for humans.
Eye stains can come back darker by using antibiotics.

Please!  DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG ANY ANTIBIOTICS
                         UNLESS PROSCRIBED BY YOUR VET!

Children's Benadryl can help with allergies to dry up watery eyes. http://benadrylfordogs.com info/benadryl-dosage-for-dogs/ This website will give you the correct dose for your size Maltese. Use Children’s Benadryl instead of antibiotics. You can find generic band from the Dollar Tree Store called Allergy Liquid that is alcohol free for itchy runny eyes. I use
Children's Benadryl for my adult dogs whenever their eyes get too runny....which happens the most whenever the wind blows dust and pollen in the air.

Don't give your puppy dry dog food that contains red dies.

After every bath wipe the ears out with a soft clean dry cloth keeping it nice and dry. Gently pluck the hair out of your pups ears so that the ears stay nice and dry otherwise they could develop infection which will cause watery eye and eye stains.
